In 1962, the children of Arthur "Daddy Arthur" Walls Jr., began gathering every 2nd Sunday in August to celebrate their father's birthday on his farm in Carroll County, Mississippi. The day was celebrated with all kind of southern foods and Christian fellowship. The highlight involved Daddy Arthur's children singing his favorite hymn, "Glad To Be In The Number One More Time". When Daddy Arthur's farm burned down in 1983, the annual celebration was moved to the Civic Center in Greenwood, Mississippi. Additional descendants of Daddy Arthur, along with extended family members, were always in regular attendance. By this time the celebration had expanded to include the full 2nd weekend of August. In 1992, the year after Daddy Arthur was laid to rest, a formal invitation was extended to the descendants of his siblings to join in the annual tradition of gathering to fellowship, and thus was born "The Walls Family Reunion". The Walls Family Reunion takes place every 2nd weekend in August. The Reunion's home base continues to be Carroll County, Mississippi. Every other year, the Walls Family Reunion is hosted in another city outside of Carroll County. The first Walls Family Reunion outside of Carroll County was hosted by Frank Black, Jr., in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1995. Subsequent reunions that have been hosted outside Carroll County are as follows.
